Do you find you ever get unhealthy cravings now? If you do, how do you deal with them?
Quite honestly I do not! I cleaned my body out years ago! An “unhealthy craving” for me is a bit of raw dark chocolate or a baked sweet potato. I love and THRIVE off abundant life force foods!
When you are running your health retreats what are the main positive changes you see in your clients?
Ahhh what a great question! The whites of their eyes become brighter! Their skin glows, they release weight and along with that stubborn weight they also release old stuck patterns that have been holding them back for years! I like to call it “a peeling of an onion”; the layers just keep on coming off!
Since you have made the transition from a model to a raw food coach what advice could you offer to people who are unhappy in their current job but want to make the transition to follow something they are passionate about?
You will never be happy working for someone else while your dreams sit dormant! Go after life! Go after it with your WHOLE heart! Just like you would chase after a lover…go after your passion!
Just three years ago I was living in Ohio, I wrote my first book Raw-lic-ous recipes there. Soon I was on the cover of the Dayton Daily news paper, then the local news. It wasn’t long before a San Diego raw food company brought me out to California to handle media for them at the largest health expo in the US! During that weekend I landed the cover of a San Diego newspaper and it was all sunshine and roses from there!
Since then I’ve been on the news several times in San Diego along with being in publications such as The Del Mar Times! I’ve also built three websites, thehealthyhaven.net where my books, products and media are showcased, AlkalizewithAndrea.com, my retreat website, and www.andrealcox.com, my modelling website. I still love to model and will continue to do so, however, my passion is helping others find their health!
The best piece of advice I can give is this: NEVER play small….it does not serve you or anyone else in the world!
What is your favorite way to exercise and why?
I would have to say I love hot yoga! I became an avid yogi a few years ago. I do love my morning runs especially at the beach! I also have a strong passion for weight training from my fitness modelling days!
1) Be mindful of your words…you never know what someone else is going through!
2) Move your body every morning! Get that lymphatic system pumping!
3) Squeeze fresh lemon in water with a bit of ginger juice and aloe every morning.
4) DRINK YOUR GREEN JUICE!
5) Get at least 20 minutes of sunlight every day for vitamin D production.
6) When you find someone you love…never let them go!
7) Treat others how you would like to be treated!
What are 5 ingredients you could not live without?
Ahhh I wouldn’t call them “ingredients”, I would call them real food! Fresh figs, cherimoya lemons, spinach and durian!
Do you have a favorite recipe you would like to share?
It would have to be my ‘Tall goddess tahini dressing’
1 cup tahini
1 cup water
The juice of 1-2 lemons
1 tbsp raw honey or a medjool date to sweeten!
Blend all ingredients and pour over a bed of fresh tender local greens! Enjoy without guilt or shame!
