Butter Chicken made with Cauliflower Cream

This is a bit of a healthier spin on the traditional butter chicken recipe. I was surprised at how well the texture turned out and how similar it tasted  to traditional butter chicken. The spices were what made this dish especially tasty, so I would recommend getting a good butter chicken spice mix but make sure the ingredients have no added sugar or preservatives. I used the Herbies Butter Chicken Spice Mix which was made up of paprika, cumin, coriander, turmeric, Continue reading

The Art of The Homemade Smoothie

Smoothies; they seem to be all the rage these days and for good reason, too! If you use the right ingredients they can become a very healthy and nutritious on-the-go meal that will keep you full and energetic until your next big meal. This also means you will be less likely to crave sugary food between meals. Plus, it’s super easy; you don’t need to be a whiz in the kitchen to throw some stuff into a blender and press a button.

So what makes a great smoothie? Continue reading

Zucchini Pasta Two Ways

Cauliflower ‘Rice’ Sushi with Tahini Dipping Sauce

sushiThis is a recipe that was made for the Girls’ Night In, following on from my previous post. The lovely Ariel did the assembling of this sushi and did a beautiful job of it!

This is a great low carb option when you want your sushi fix. The sauce is divine and also makes a great salad dressing. I have just included what we used for the filling of this sushi in the ingredients but feel free to play around with different fillings.

Makes approx 5 long sushi rolls Continue reading

Bio PhotoThis week’s guest is a fellow health coach, creator of The Savory Soul life coach, writer and yoga teacher whose mission is to change the way women view their bodies and lives using her experience of recovering from her own health and body image issues. So many things stood out for me in this interview and I feel as though Amanda and I have quite a bit in common, including our taste in music! Meet Amanda Moore…

What led you to pursue a career in health and wellness and why are you so passionate about it?

Well, this is a VERY long story but I’ll try to give you the short of the long. In 2004 I had almost two feet of my colon removed for a precancerous colon polyp following my mom having uterine cancer and my older brother having colon cancer (at age 26). We discovered that we have something called HNPCC (Hereditary Non- Continue reading

Super Food Balls

goI was lucky enough to receive a superfood mix pack from a cool online shop called It was a mixture of hemp seeds, goji berries, chia seeds and cacao nibs. It’s so good and I have used them in the recipe for the balls below. I only used 1 teaspoon of honey to sweeten these as I like the bitter taste of the cacao and the goji berries add a nice sweetness as well. The almond butter and coconut milk is what makes the balls stick together so feel free to add in or remove any other ingredients you desire.

Makes 12 balls

1/3 cup almond butter Continue reading

Guest Interview: Daniel Finley Chinese Medicine Doctor

This week’s guest is Daniel Finley who is an extremely passionate Chinese Medicine Doctor based in Dallas, Texas. I learnt so much from this interview through Daniel’s insight into how Chinese Medicine can help with many health issues and how we can incorporate Chinese Medicine principles into our everyday life. Meet Daniel…

Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you chose to study Chinese Medicine?

I enjoy adventure and being active so I play hockey, teach martial arts and get outside and travel as much as possible. I love being healthy and helping others with their health and I am very grateful I get to do that as a job. When I was in high school I developed some embarrassing digestive problems and couldn’t get any help with traditional medicine. I lived with them for a few years and finally talked to my Kung Fu teacher about them. Turns out he was a doctor of Chinese Medicine and he did acupuncture for me and it worked! I was free, and I wanted to help other people who were caught in the same situation as me. I went through Chinese Medicine School and have now been in practice for five years. I love that she is such a great role model and advocate when it comes to healthy living. Check out her blog for some of her great juice and smoothie recipes and photos of her travels. Firstly, though, I’ll let Valentina share more about her self and some of her health tips…
