Sweet Tahini Slice

ImageSo I’m going to be honest and admit that this recipe was a total fluke, hence the dodgy photo. I went away this weekend with two friends, Meg from The wholesome Athlete and Steph from That Yoga Feeling. I didn’t have much time to make a snack for us, so I chucked the below ingredients into a food processor and hoped for the best. Turns out these ingredients taste damn good together, needless to say the whole slice was gobbled up very quickly.  Continue reading

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you may have come across some of these recipes already, but I thought I would share these on the blog for those of you that aren’t social media obsessed (go you if that is the case). These are just a few quick, easy but delicious meal and snack ideas that anyone can make.

Passionfruit and Avocado Ice Creams

Sounds like a weird combo but the avocado makes them really creamy and the sweetness of the passionfruit hides the taste of the avo so it’s a perfect summer treat for the kiddies.

Guest Interview: Daniel Finley Chinese Medicine Doctor

This week’s guest is Daniel Finley who is an extremely passionate Chinese Medicine Doctor based in Dallas, Texas. I learnt so much from this interview through Daniel’s insight into how Chinese Medicine can help with many health issues and how we can incorporate Chinese Medicine principles into our everyday life. Meet Daniel…

Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you chose to study Chinese Medicine?

I enjoy adventure and being active so I play hockey, teach martial arts and get outside and travel as much as possible. I love being healthy and helping others with their health and I am very grateful I get to do that as a job. When I was in high school I developed some embarrassing digestive problems and couldn’t get any help with traditional medicine. I lived with them for a few years and finally talked to my Kung Fu teacher about them. Turns out he was a doctor of Chinese Medicine and he did acupuncture for me and it worked! I was free, and I wanted to help other people who were caught in the same situation as me. I went through Chinese Medicine School and have now been in practice for five years. Green Tea Infused Banana Pudding

pudI was inspired to make this after having the matcha (green tea powder) pudding at an amazing Japanese restaurant called Ume in Surry Hills, which I went to with my parents. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any matcha powder at home so I used infused almond milk with green tea instead. This recipe should also work with 1-2 teaspoons of matcha powder instead of using the green tea leaves. I also added a tablespoon of the green tea leaves into the blender when mixing the pudding, but you can leave this out if you don’t like the texture of the leaves.

Makes enough for 2 people Continue reading

8 Reasons to Drink Dandelion Root Tea

Posted on Mind Body Green on 18 December 2012

As we are head into the silly season, it’s no secret that many of us will be consuming more alcohol this time of year, which will no doubt put a lot of extra pressure on our liver. Enter dandelion root tea, which is great for detoxing the liver! Plus it has many other great benefits, such as:

  1. It improves digestion and aids weight loss.
  2. It eases congestion of the liver.
  3. It helps to purify the bladder and kidneys.
  4. It reduces the risk of urinary tract infections.
  5. It contains calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, potassium, vitamins B and C.
  6. It helps to purify the blood, regulate blood sugar and improves blood circulation.
  7. It helps to ease bloating and aching joints.
  8. It helps to cure skin conditions.

And that’s just the beginning Dandelion leaves also have all of these health benefits and more, which makes them a great option to include in your morning green juice.

The best way to get all of these benefits is to put the dried root straight into a cup with boiling water and drink it as is.

You can also roast the roots and drink it as a coffee substitute with some unsweetened almond milk, cinnamon and a few drops of stevia.
